Izzie Yip has joined the cast of Hollyoaks playing Shing Lin, the niece of Honour (Vera Chok), as part of a Christmas storyline.
The character arrives in the village with her parents Mei Lian and Meng Chye in an effort to cheer up Mason (Frank Kauer), who has been caught up in the machinations of misogynistic Eric (Angus Castle-Doughty).
Shing Lin - described as "confident, excitable and care-free" - quickly becomes the life of the party amongst the teens of Hollyoaks, but her happiness is short-lived when a shocking family secret is revealed and her world comes tumbling down.
"I'm really grateful to be joining the Chen-Williams family," said Yip.
"The teens and I have been working on some pretty fun scenes; we're so excited for you to see our characters grow and watch the dynamics of a certain relationship shift around Shing Lin's intrusion.
"She's going to bring a touch of East Asian familiarity to your screens."
Shing Lin will make her debut in the All 4 and E4 first-look episode on December 12, and on Channel 4 on December 13.
