Killing Eve executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle has revealed that the fourth season of the drama is already being written and has not yet been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The spread of the deadly disease has had knock-on effects for TV and film production around the globe, in some cases leading to significant delays to planned release and transmission dates.

Based on schedules for previous years, the fourth season is most likely due to begin filming in mid-to-late August, by which point there may not be a need to significantly alter the production dates.

"We haven't taken our foot off the pedal," Woodward Gentle told Entertainment Weekly. "The writers are in the room now. We should have three episodes written really shortly.

"We're working to the schedule that we had before, and we will amend it as appropriate when we get closer to the date when we would start filming.

"We're not going to do anything without people being entirely safe, and we don't really want to compromise the vision for the show, either. So I can absolutely see a way that we could air in 2021."

Asked for some teasers about what might lie ahead in season four, she replied: "What do you do when you have to acknowledge to yourself that there's a darkness that you can't push down anymore? And that's very much an Eve thing."

She went on to add: "Change is possible."

The third season finale aired in the US last night and is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
