Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar makes a claim about the identity of the show's mysterious H character.

Adrian Dunbar has claimed that Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio has reassured him that he is not the mysterious 'H'.

One of the show's longest-running plots has centred around the identity of the final corrupt officer who, together with three previously-identified characters, goes by the nickname H.

The spotlight has shone on and off Dunbar's Ted Hastings multiple times over the last few series, but now he has revealed that it is definitely not the AC-12 boss.

"It was a relief for me, as I spent all this time playing this character and I always thought Ted had a sense of duty and a moral core," he told the How To Fall podcast.

"And to have found out I was this arch villain... I would have been in real difficulty accepting that.

"Jed is aware of our audience and they know Ted has a sense of moral fortitude. I am glad he came out of it with flying colours."

Line of Duty continues Sunday night at 9pm on BBC One.
