In a now-deleted tweet, Giles Coren claims that he knows someone who has been cast in Line of Duty series seven, which has yet to be officially announced.

Giles Coren has claimed that he knows someone who has already been cast in Line of Duty series seven despite the show's apparently-uncertain future.

The sixth series of the cop drama concluded on Sunday night with a record overnight figure of 12.8 million viewers, while also appearing to wrap up the show's main mystery.

Show creator Jed Mercurio has not yet committed to a new series, while in a statement on Sunday, BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore said that she is keen to begin talks on the "future" of the show.

In a now-deleted tweet, however, food critic and BBC presenter Coren seemed to suggest that planning is already well underway behind the scenes, writing: "A friend of mine was cast in series 7 last week. There's no secret."

Coren has not since commented on the matter or explained why he removed the tweet
