Love Island will begin tonight with a brand new method of determining the initial couples.
In previous years, either the Islanders themselves or the viewing public have picked the pairs, but after the 12 new Islanders enter the villa tonight, Maya Jama arrives to explain how it will work this year.
"Welcome to Love Island. It's lovely to meet you guys but I think we should have a little game to get things going," she tells them, before asking them to split into boys and girls.
"You've already started getting to know each other so you guys have had enough time for first impressions, right? First impressions count," she continues.
"Boys and girls, I now want you to rate each other in order of who you think has come across the most like boyfriend and girlfriend material, right down to who has given the least relationship vibes."
The girls chat among themselves and arrange the boys from most to least boyfriend material, before the boys do the same with the girls.
"Well, that was very interesting," says Maya. "I bet you're wondering how we're going to couple you up. Well, you've done it yourselves!"
The boys and girls are then coupled up according to their equivalent positions in the lineups on the most-to-least scale and the first six couples are revealed - but later in the episode, Maya returns to the villa to announce a Love Island-first twist.
Love Island launches tonight at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX.
