The first contestant has already been dumped from Love Island, according to a report.

Love Island has already lost its first Islander after just one day in the villa, according to a report.

In last night's launch episode, the 12 OG Islanders were coupled up according to their own opinions of each others' relationship qualities.

Later on, host Maya Jama returned to the villa to drop a first-night twist by introducing the show's first ever celebrity bombshell - TOWIE legend Joey Essex.

According to The Sun, however, the Islanders were soon to discover that the first dumping was already upon them.

"The islanders were all in shock when it happened. They thought Joey coming in was the only twist," a source told the newspaper.

"Nobody was expecting a dumping to happen so soon. The dumped star was gutted they hardly got to spend any time in the villa and feels like they've been cheated of the whole experience.

"There were tears around the firepit. The islanders haven't known each other long but this has sent them reeling.

"It shows that bosses aren't messing around this series and they need to expect the unexpected."

While details of how the dumping will play out have yet to be revealed, in tonight's episode Joey is informed that he has 24 hours to pick a girl to couple up with - suggesting that the partner of the girl he picks could be the one to go.

Later in the episode the Islanders play their first game of the series - phone roulette - during which Joey is dared to kiss three girls of his choosing, prompting him to pick Samantha (coupled with Sam), Harriett (coupled with Ciaran) and Nicole (coupled with Sean).

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
