BT Sport's coverage of Manchester City's historic win in the Champions League final pulled in more than 5 million viewers, early figures show.

Manchester City's historic win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final was seen by over 5 million viewers last night, according to early ratings figures.

Pep Guardiola's side sealed a treble and were crowned champions of Europe for the first time in their history thanks to Rodri's second half goal at the Ataturk Olimpiyat in Istanbul.

The game was broadcast in the UK on BT Sport - and streamed for free on its YouTube channel - with coverage beginning at 6pm, two hours before the 8pm kickoff.

Overall, the coverage averaged 2.71m - a 23.3% share of the TV audience - between 6pm and 11pm, with the game itself averaging 4.73m between 8pm and 10pm.

A peak of 5.30m (34.6%) were watching as the final whistle blew at 9.55pm.

Overnight ratings figures do not take into account people who may have been watching in pubs, bars or other non-residential settings.
