French actor Gaspard Ulliel dies in skiing accident, aged 37

Gaspard Ulliel - star of the upcoming Marvel series Moon Knight - dies in a skiing accident at the age of 37.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel has been killed in a skiing accident in the French Alps, it has been confirmed.

The 37-year-old is known for films including Hannibal Rising and Saint Laurent - and appears in a key role in the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight.

Ulliel is said to have been skiing in the Savoie region on Tuesday without wearing a helmet when he collided with another person at the intersection of two ski slopes.

The actor suffered significant head trauma in the incident and was rushed to hospital in Grenoble, where he died of his injuries.

A spokesperson for Disney said: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our friend and colleague Gaspard Ulliel. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time."

Ulliel is survived by his five-year-old son.
