WandaVision director Matt Shakman says that he hopes fans will be left satisfied by this week's final episode.

WandaVision director Matt Shakman has promised that the show will end this week in a way that he hopes is 'satisfying and surprising' for fans.

The show, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, has dropped numerous twists and revelations over the course of its eight episodes to date - and last week how it was finally explained how Wanda came to create her alternative world.

The introduction of White Vision in the mid-credits scene has left fans speculating about how the finale will play out, and now Shakman - director of all nine episodes - has admitted that some of them will "feel very smart" when the episode is released.

"We build this show with so much love and passion and care and attention to detail, and you just cannot understand how appreciative we are that the fans have embraced it with that much love and passion and attention to detail and theories, which are incredible," he told TVLine.

"I know there will be a lot of disappointed people with some theories and some who will feel very smart, but you can't please everybody, obviously. But I hope folks enjoy the ride."

He continued: "We were trying to tell a complete story in terms of the narrative around Westview, NJ, and we hope that there's some resolution to that story, and that it is satisfying and also surprising for the fans.

"But Wanda will continue into Doctor Strange [in the Multiverse of Madness], and there's a lot more to her story to be told, so this is only one part of a very complicated and very rich life."

The final episode of WandaVision is released on Disney+ on Friday at 8am UK time / 3am ET.
