Wynne Evans, known for starring in the Go Compare adverts, reportedly joins the lineup for the next series of Celebrity MasterChef.

Wynne Evans, star of the Go Compare adverts, has reportedly joined the lineup for this year's Celebrity MasterChef.

The 51-year-old is a trained opera singer and has portrayed the character Gio Compario in adverts for the insurance comparison firm for the last 14 years.

Evans is also a radio presenter and has hosted his own show on BBC Radio Wales for the last decade, and now The Sun says that he will be entering the famous MasterChef kitchen.

"Wynne has signed up to Celebrity MasterChef and wants to finish on a high note," a source told the newspaper.

"Fans of the show will be getting to see the real Wynne and not his character Gio Compario who they are used to seeing on the Go Compare adverts.

"Wynne has a show on BBC Radio Wales and is a big hit with listeners – so the Beeb wanted to try him out on a big show like MasterChef.

"He isn't the best cook in the world but Wynne is no novice in the kitchen and will be bringing a touch of Welsh influence to his dishes."

The new series of Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One this summer.
