Tenet passes £10 million mark at UK box office

Christopher Nolan's big-budget epic Tenet passes the £10 million milestone at the UK box office in its second week of release.

Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic Tenet crossed the £10 million threshold at the UK box office over the weekend, according to the latest figures.

The movie - the first major release following the coronavirus lockdown - opened at the end of August and pulled in an impressive £5.3 million in its opening weekend.

Tenet has now registered just over £10 million in the UK, including £2.15 million from Friday to Sunday alone, while the worldwide total is now thought to be around the $150 million (£115.1 million) mark.

Superhero horror movie The New Mutants, starring Maisie Williams, opened at second with a lacklustre total of £686,000 over the weekend to contribute to a worldwide gross of around £16 million - just a quarter of the budget.

Elsewhere, Black Panther re-entered the chart at nine after being re-released in the wake of the death of lead actor Chadwick Boseman last week.
