Filming is underway on Dune: Part Two ahead of its release next year, it has been confirmed.
The first instalment of the epic sci-fi saga drew critical acclaim - with 10 Oscar nominations - and a box office haul of $401m (£333m) upon its release last October, prompting confirmation of a sequel shortly afterwards.
Now production partners Warner Bros and Legendary have announced that filming has begun, in addition to confirming the cast list.
Returning stars include Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson, while additions include Austin Butler, Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh.
An official synopsis for the film reads: "This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.
"Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee."
Dune: Part Two is scheduled for release on November 17, 2023.
