Harvey Weinstein tests negative for coronavirus

Harvey Weinstein tests negative for coronavirus in a New York jail following reports that he is "seriously ill".

Harvey Weinstein has tested negative for coronavirus following reports that he is "seriously ill" in jail.

The disgraced movie mogul - currently serving a 23-year sentence for historic sexual abuse - was tested for COVID-19 earlier this week after displaying symptoms of the killer disease.

Now a spokesman for the 68-year-old has revealed that the test came back negative but there are still ongoing concerns for his declining health in prison.

"We can report that Mr Weinstein's fever has dropped but is still being closely monitored. We can also report at this time that he does not have COVID-19," said a statement.

"Mr Weinstein continues to be very closely monitored due to a plethora of underlying health issues, which are continuing to decline, get worse, and need treatment."

The producer's many ailments are said to include a heart condition, high blood pressure and spinal stenosis.
