The next instalment in the Scream franchise will be set in New York City, actress Melissa Barrera has revealed.
The sixth movie - also the first not to feature Neve Campbell, who refused to take part amid a wage dispute - will see Barrera reprise her role from the acclaimed fifth movie, alongside Courteney Cox and Scream 4's Hayden Panettiere.
Speaking to Collider, Barrera confirmed that for the first time the action will take place outside of the sleepy town of Woodsboro, instead relocating to the hustle and bustle of NYC.
"It's like 20 times more mortifying," she told the publication. "It's awful. Because you also see how, in a city like New York City, everyone is kind of doing their own thing and someone is screaming for help, and no-one will come to their help."
She continued: "No-one comes to help them, you know, like, everyone's kind of like, 'I'm not getting into that.' So it's mortifying, because you're chased by Ghostface, but you also see humanity and how that reacts in a situation like that. Anyway, I think I've already probably said too much."
Scream 6 is due for release on March 31, 2023.
