Watch: Ed Sheeran releases surprise new single Afterglow

Watch Ed Sheeran perform his surprise new single, 'Afterglow'.

Ed Sheeran has dropped his first new music in over a year but has warned fans not to expect more material anytime soon.

The singer-songwriter announced a hiatus from music last year and has since welcomed his first child with wife Cherry.

Unveiling the new single, 'Afterglow', on social media, Sheeran wrote: "Hey guys. Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you.

"It's not the first single from the next album, it's just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy!

"Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year's. Back to dad land for me now, ciao."
