BBC 'orders 227 new episodes of Pointless'

The BBC reportedly makes a bumper order of new episodes of Pointless.

The BBC has reportedly given the go-ahead to 227 new episodes of popular quiz show Pointless.

The show, hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, has been a staple of the BBC One schedules since 2009 - although it was forced off the air in July due to the coronavirus crisis.

According to Broadcast, filming will restart in November under new safety guidelines and without a studio audience, initially at least.

The magazine says that the BBC has confirmed three regular series, each of 55 episodes, as well as two 31-episode series of the celebrity version, which is shown on Saturday nights.

Gameshows have become de rigueur as TV production ramps back up, with ITV alone planning to air 10 different gameshows this autumn.
