BBC Two to air Victoria Wood's Secret List

BBC Two is to air a countdown of Victoria Wood's best sketches, as chosen by the late comedian herself.

BBC Two has announced plans to air a countdown of Victoria Wood's favourite sketches from her back catalogue of shows, more than four years on from the legendary comedian's death.

Wood died at the age of 62 in April 2016, just months after she learned that she was suffering from terminal cancer - a diagnosis that she kept private until her death.

During a comedy and acting career stretching back to the 1970s, Wood created and starred in a variety of shows, including Dinnerladies, Acorn Antiques, As Seen On TV and Pat and Margaret.

The two-part show Victoria Wood's Secret List will feature a countdown of more than 20 sketches as chosen by Wood herself in a list that was found among her personal affairs after her death.

The programme will also feature previously-unseen footage from her own archive alongside contributions from famous faces who worked with her.

Jo Wallace, the BBC's acting commissioner of entertainment, said: "Victoria Wood was without question one of the most brilliantly talented and fantastically funny comedians of our generation.

"It is an absolute honour to be able to share with viewers her personally selected favourite moments and lots more besides in this very special trip down memory lane."

The series is expected to air later this year.
