Boris Johnson still "stable" in intensive care

Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in a "stable" condition in intensive care, Downing Street says.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is still "clinically stable" in intensive care with coronavirus, Downing Street have said.

The 55-year-old was admitted to St Thomas' hospital in central London on Sunday night as a precautionary measure before being admitted to ICU on Monday.

Delivering an update to journalists this morning, a spokesman said that Johnson is "clinically stable and is responding to treatment" and remains "in good spirits" as he battles the disease.

The spokesman added that the PM is still breathing without assistance and is able to contact those he needs to, although he is not working.

The update on Johnson's condition comes on another deadly day in the UK's fight against COVID-19, with another 828 recorded deaths taking the total to 6,483.
