David Tennant, Michael Sheen to star in new lockdown comedy

David Tennant and Michael Sheen head up a new comedy series filmed during the coronavirus lockdown.

David Tennant and Michael Sheen have signed up to appear in a new BBC comedy filmed during lockdown.

Staged, airing on BBC One from June, follows the cast of a fictional West End play who find themselves suddenly furloughed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The six-part series takes place over webcam as the cast struggle to keep rehearsals on track ahead of the play's re-opening.

Charlotte Moore, the BBC's director of content, said: "It's vital that the BBC provides moments of light relief and this mischievous idea shows what great sports Michael and David are in sending themselves up."

Other cast members on Staged include Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg.
