Doctor Alex left 'infuriated' by sunbathing pictures

Former Love Island star Doctor Alex George admits that he is 'infuriated' after seeing pictures of people flouting the rules during the coronavirus lockdown.

Doctor Alex George has admitted that he was left 'infuriated' and 'deflated' after viewing pictures of people sunbathing in public during the coronavirus lockdown.

The public have been urged to stay at home in order to help slow the spread of the disease, which has claimed more than 63,800 lives - including 4,313 in the UK - to date.

Yesterday the government pleaded with the public to remain indoors this weekend despite the hot weather, but images online have showed people flouting the rules in parks and other green spaces.

Replying to one picture showing groups of people sunbathing in a park, former Love Island star George - currently working on the frontlines at a London hospital - admitted that he found the scenes "devastating to see".

"This is is infuriating," he wrote. "People are dying. Young people too as well as NHS staff. This is not a holiday. I am a positive person but seeing this is so deflating.

"NHS staff are risking their lives and people are sunbathing. Devastating to see."

The Pledge panellist Michelle Dewberry, who posted the picture in question, had earlier written: "Just been out for my walk. Park was absolutely packed with people in groups &/or sunbathing...

"Police turned up (good) & people were actually annoyed at being asked to move on & angry at them.

"I bet loads of these people are the same ones who stand & clap for the NHS..."

Earlier today it was confirmed that one of the deaths reported in the last day was a five-year-old - the youngest UK victim of COVID-19.
