Gavin and Stacey's Mat Horne and Joanna Page have been spotted together at a bar in Cardiff, prompting fresh rumours that a new episode of the show could be in the works.
After an absence of a decade, the comedy returned for a one-off special last Christmas and was a phenomenal success, pulling in a consolidated audience of 18.5 million viewers for BBC One.
Despite the huge ratings, co-creator and star Ruth Jones has repeatedly insisted that another new episode is not on the cards, claiming that there has been no progress on a script in 2020 - even during the long periods of coronavirus lockdown.
In pictures published on Wales Online, Horne and Page, who play the titular characters, were seen out having drinks together at a bar in Cardiff city centre on Thursday night.
The Welsh capital is a mere stone's throw from Barry Island, where the show's scenes set in Wales are filmed.
Although the meeting of the two actors is thought to be purely social, fans have claimed on social media that it could be a hint that a new episode is secretly in the works as a surprise Christmas treat.
One wrote on Twitter: "I will actually WEE myself if there really is going to be another Gavin & Stacey Christmas special this year it'll actually save 2020"
Another said: "The only thing that would make this year that little bit better is a Gavin & Stacey Christmas special to find out if Smithy said yes to Nessa!"
The BBC is due to announce its Christmas schedules on December 1.
