Golden Globes 2021 delayed by two months due to coronavirus

Next year's Golden Globes ceremony is delayed by almost two months to February 28, 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Next year's Golden Globes will take place almost two months later than planned due to the industry disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The curtain-raiser for awards season is normally held on the first Sunday in January but will now take place on Sunday, February 28, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has announced.

The move follows the confirmation of two-month delays to the Oscars and the BAFTAs earlier this month in order to give studios more time to release films.

A spokesperson confirmed: "To accommodate both domestic and international film and television productions, the HFPA will provide further guidance around eligibility, voting period and revised nominations announcement timing in the coming weeks."

This year's Emmy Awards - due to be held in September - have yet to be moved, while the 2021 Grammys and SAG Awards are still scheduled for next January.
