'Gossip Girl' star tests positive for coronavirus

Gossip Girl actor Aaron Tveit revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Gossip Girl actor Aaron Tveit has revealed that he has contracted the coronavirus disease.

The world has been brought to a virtual standstill by the spread of the deadly virus, with more than 415,000 confirmed cases and over 18,500 deaths to date.

Tveit, who played Tripp van der Bilt on the teen drama and more recently has been starring in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge, revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 but is already "feeling much better".

The 36-year-old wrote on Instagram: "I consider myself extremely lucky that my symptoms have been very mild - cold like with no fever - as so many are experiencing much more serious symptoms, because this is a very dangerous virus.

"One thing I have been experiencing is the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic.

"I want everyone to realize that this can affect anyone. And even if you aren't feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms - please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon."

Other Hollywood stars to have caught coronavirus in recent weeks include Tom Hanks, Idris Elba and Andy Cohen.
