ITV 'to bring back The Cube'

ITV is reportedly bringing back The Cube for a new series, with a significantly-boosted prize pot.

ITV has reportedly decided to bring back gameshow The Cube for a new series.

The show, which aired from 2009 to 2015, required contestants to complete a number of precise tasks while inside a large perspex box and under the pressure of a live studio audience.

According to Deadline, ITV has been inspired by the successful return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? with Jeremy Clarkson in deciding to order a new run of The Cube.

The publication claims that the broadcaster will up the ante for contestants by significantly increasing the prize fund available from the usual top prize of £250,000.

Deadline also suggests that the show could ape Millionaire's tentative return in 2018 by coming back for a series of specials, possibly stripped across the ITV schedule.

Phillip Schofield hosted the original series and it is unknown whether he will return or be replaced for the reboot.
