Matt Damon enjoying "fairytale" lockdown in Ireland

Matt Damon admits that he is enjoying his time in lockdown in a small Irish suburb.

Matt Damon has revealed that he is enjoying his time in lockdown in a small Irish suburb.

The 49-year-old has been trapped in Dalkey, a Dublin suburb with a population of just 8,000, with his wife and two of his daughters for the last two months.

Damon was filming medieval movie The Last Duel in Ireland when the coronavirus crisis forced all TV and film productions to cease.

"I'm in the middle of a movie, we shot the first half in France and were moving to Ireland," he told Spin 103.8. "Right when we arrived in Ireland, the movie was shut down. That would have been early March, I guess. Two months ago, I think.

"It's incredible [in Dalkey]. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Obviously what's going on in the world is horrible, but for my family it timed out right. It feels a little like a fairytale here, it's gorgeous."

The Last Duel - scheduled for release in January 2021 - also stars Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.
