Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 delayed due to coronavirus

The seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible movies are delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The upcoming seventh and eighth films in the Mission: Impossible franchise have been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming of the seventh movie in Venice was halted in February as Italy became the first European country to suffer a major outbreak of the deadly disease.

As a result its original release date of July 23, 2021 has now been pushed back to November 19, 2021, while the eighth film, which is being shot back-to-back with the seventh, has changed from August 5, 2022 to November 4, 2022.

Tom Cruise is returning as the action hero Ethan Hunt, with Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby also reprising their roles from previous movies.

British actors Hayley Atwell and Nicholas Hoult have joined the cast in unspecified roles.
