Ricky Gervais has signed a new deal with Netflix that will see him make a third, final season of After Life.
The dark comedy returned for its second season at the end of last month and quickly became the most-watched show on the platform, outstripping Tiger King, Money Heist and Too Hot To Handle.
Gervais has never produced a third season of a self-starring comedy before - The Office, Extras and Derek all managed just two full seasons - but his affection for After Life has led to him breaking that tradition.
Taking to Twitter, the comedian wrote: "Because so many of you watched #AfterLife2 so quickly and made it Number 1 again, the nice people at @Netflix have suggested that I get off my fat arse and do another season. This is all your fault."
The multi-year deal with the streaming giant - worth in "the eight-figure range", according to The Hollywood Reporter - will also see Gervais develop new scripted series and stand-up specials.
