This Morning 'looking to hire black main presenter'

This Morning's programme editor reveals that he is looking to hire a black main presenter in the near future, suggesting uncertain futures for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

This Morning is reportedly looking to hire a black main presenter in the near future, suggesting that one or more of the show's current main presenters could leave the show.

The long-running magazine show is hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby from Mondays to Thursdays each week, with husband-and-wife duo Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford presenting the Friday show.

Rochelle Humes and her husband Marvin Humes have worked as relief presenters in the past, while Alison Hammond is a long-standing showbiz correspondent, but according to the Daily Mail, ITV wants to hire a black host to take a permanent spot in the main chair.

Speaking to staff last week, This Morning's programme editor Martin Frizell said: "There is not a black presenter on any of the programmes today. We plan to change that, we are looking into it."

The news suggests that either Schofield or Willoughby could be ready to quit the show, or scale back the number of days they appear as a pair.

Willoughby recently quit her role as a team captain on Celebrity Juice after 12 years and is said to be working on new projects with the BBC.
