Will & Grace creators appear to confirm cast feud

Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick appear to confirm the rumoured feud between Debra Messing and Megan Mullally.

Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick have appeared to confirm rumours of an on-set feud that soured the final season of the show.

The hit comedy ran for eight seasons on NBC between 1998 and 2006 but made a return in 2017 for a further three seasons, with the last episode airing in the US on Thursday night.

Last year it was heavily rumoured that stars Debra Messing (Grace) and Megan Mullally (Karen) had had a massive fallout, with Mullally subsequently missing a couple of episodes just before the show's cancellation was confirmed.

Mullally suggested that the speculation was accurate in a podcast interview in which she claimed that she was "being bullied right now" and had "made it a thousand times worse" by trying to stand up for herself.

Asked about the feud by Entertainment Weekly, Mutchnick replied: "We always work under this kind of motto that everything's about the work. It's just about the work. And so if we stay true to that, then we just keep you guys out of whatever happened on the set this year because it would have done nothing but get in the way of the stories that we wanted to tell.

"It was not an easy year, but the permanent legacy of the show is much more important to us than any temporary squabble that would take place on the stage."

The final episode of Will & Grace was seen by just 3.13 million viewers, according to early ratings data.
