BBC Three to air Canada's Drag Race in UK

The BBC announces it has secured the rights to Canada's Drag Race and will air new episodes within hours of their Canadian broadcast.

BBC Three has nabbed the UK rights to the first season of Canada's Drag Race.

The new spinoff features a three-pronged judging panel including RuPaul's Drag Race alumnus Brooke Lynn Hytes, supermodel Stacey McKenzie and LGBQT+ activist Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, as well as a different celebrity guest each week.

RuPaul is not expected to feature in the series, although right-hand woman Michelle Visage will make a guest appearance at some point.

Announcing the BBC's pickup of the show, RuPaul said: "Canada's Drag Race airing on BBC is further proof that self-expression, creativity and the tenacity of the human spirit resonates around the globe."

BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell added: "We're very excited that BBC Three will be the only place in the UK to watch the first ever Canada's Drag Race and to be working with World of Wonder again. With a brilliant combination of contestants, judges and challenges, it has all the ingredients of a spectacularly fun series - get ready to fall in love with these Canadian Queens!"

Canada's Drag Race premieres in Canada on Thursday, July 2, with new episodes dropping in the UK every Friday morning starting July 3.

Meanwhile, the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars continues with new episodes every Saturday morning on Netflix UK.
