Father Ted star Rynagh O'Grady dies, aged 67

Father Ted star Rynagh O'Grady, one half of warring couple Mary and John, dies at the age of 67.

Rynagh O'Grady, best known to British audiences for playing Mary in Father Ted, has died suddenly at the age of 67.

The actress spent most of her career working in productions at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and appeared in the Channel 4 sitcom as one half of the eternally-warring couple Mary and John.

A statement from the Abbey Theatre said: "We were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our beloved friend and colleague Rynagh O'Grady.

"We are thinking of her family and all who loved her."
