Phillip Schofield's 87-year-old mother Pat is reportedly back at home in Cornwall after being hospitalised for a mystery illness.

Phillip Schofield's mother Pat has reportedly been released from hospital after being admitted with a mystery condition.

Reports on Tuesday indicated that the 87-year-old was "seriously unwell" in a Cornwall hospital, weeks after her TV presenter son was forced to quit ITV after admitting to lying to his bosses about an affair with a younger colleague.

Pat had also recently been contending with the news that her other son, Tim, had been jailed for sexual activity with a boy under the age of 18.

A source told the Daily Mail: "It's a relief for everyone that Pat is home, it has been a terribly torrid time for her. She has been under so much stress lately.

"It is a lot for anyone, let alone someone of her age. Phillip is playing the dutiful son and is planning to spend time in Cornwall caring for her."

Pat has been a widow for the last 15 years after Schofield's father Brian died of a heart condition.
