Simon Cowell offered whatever assistance Il Divo's Carlos Marin needed in the days before his death, the singer's widow has revealed.
Marin died at the age of just 53 on December 19, having been hospitalised with coronavirus several days earlier before being placed into an induced coma.
The Spaniard's wife Geraldine Larrosa said that Cowell - the man responsible for putting the group together - got in touch as soon as he heard that Marin was unwell.
"Simon Cowell personally phoned the hospital and offered to help with anything," she told Hola! magazine.
"To help him, send him a plane in case they could fly [to Spain] sooner. But it was impossible.
"He was very sick and he would not have survived the pressure of the plane."
After news of Marin's death broke, Cowell stated on social media that he had been left "devastated" by the sad turn of events.
