The Vamps star James McVey has spoken candidly about his past battles with eating disorder.
The 31-year-old musician rose to fame as part of the four-piece boyband, which formed in 2012, and is also known for his stint on the 2018 edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
During his time in the Aussie jungle, McVey opened up about his "negative relationship with food" which had left him "stick thin" and now he has discussed how it affected the early days of being in a band.
"I was consciously determining where we could or couldn't eat," he told The Mirror. "We had a big touring party...and we'd be in the middle of nowhere in America, and we'd go to a restaurant, and if all they had [on the menu] was like, pizza, I'd be like, 'We can't eat here.'
"And then if that was paired with not being able to go to the gym, I was just not a very nice person really."
"We were young guys touring the world, and I think it was quite easy for us to just get swept up in the craziness," he continued.
"And they probably didn't realise how severe it was, but I think looking back now, we acknowledge that it was quite difficult."
McVey has just released his first solo EP since joining the band, Manabi, and will play a solo show at Hoxton Hall in London on November 10.
