Watch: US talkshow host Wendy Williams brands The Queen
Wendy Williams causes controversy by branding The Queen "a mean bitch" in a segment on her US talkshow.

Wendy Williams has come in for criticism on social media after branding The Queen "a mean bitch" on her US talkshow.

The unsavoury comment about the 95-year-old monarch came during a segment in which Williams - known for her erratic style and lack of filter - was discussing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son Archie.

Recently it was reported that the Sussexes had declined an offer to name Archie 'The Earl of Dumbarton' - referencing the Scottish town near Glasgow - because the name contains the word "dumb".

Defending their decision and taking a shot at The Queen, Williams said: "I love that Meghan and Harry insisted that he would not be called 'The Duke of Dirt'?"

After being told that it was 'Dumbarton' rather than 'Dirt', she continued: "Harry and Meghan rejected the title of Earl of Dumbarton for Archie and I suspect because The Queen is a mean bitch behind the scenes. They're like 'what title can we give this black boy? DUMB-arton.'

"But Meghan and Harry didn't want him to be bullied in school, and you know he would be, because no matter what kind of fancy school you go to, nothing is higher than being a royal. Dummie, dumb-dumb, dumber and dumbest."
