The first celebrity is shown the door on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Les Dennis has become the first celebrity to be eliminated from this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The comedian and partner Nancy Xu finished bottom of the judges' leaderboard on Saturday, having suffered a similar fate the week before.

The star's entertaining performances could have earned him a reprieve via the viewer votes, but things weren't looking up for Les, 69, and he lost out to Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez in the dance-off by a unanimous vote.

"I've had the best time," he said afterwards. "This lady has been amazing, a great teacher, she's really put me through my paces."

He added: "I hope I've entertained, that's what I came here for. Strictly is the best and the people who put this on, you're just all amazing!"

Strictly continues next Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One with Movie Week.
