Steve Allen fails to respond to the growing backlash over his comments branding Tilly Ramsay "a chubby little thing".

LBC host Steve Allen has failed to address the growing backlash over his comments about Gordon Ramsay's daughter Tilly Ramsay earlier this week.

The 67-year-old presenter, who has been with the station for more than 40 years, described 19-year-old Strictly Come Dancing star Tilly as "a chubby little thing" during Wednesday's edition of his early breakfast show.

"Well she can't blooming well dance, I'm bored with her already," he told listeners. "She's a chubby little thing, isn't she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad's cooking I should imagine."

After the comments went viral, Tilly responded with a lengthy post on Instagram, writing: "I try not to read and listen to comments and negativity however recently being called out on a national radio station by a 67-year-old man is a step too far," she began her post.

"Steve please feel free voice your opinions however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance. It's such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.

"This isn't the first and definitely won't be the last comment made about my appearance and I accept that and I'm learning to accept myself."

Allen returned to the airwaves on Thursday morning but failed to address the issue during his three-hour show.

LBC has also yet to comment.
