Les Dennis has revealed that he believes in reincarnation and hopes to come back as a future member of his own family after he dies.
The 69-year-old has been part of the entertainment scene for more than 50 years as a comedian and TV presenter - notably hosting Family Fortunes for 15 years - and is now appearing as a contestant in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Ahead of his live debut on the ballroom floor this weekend, Dennis has opened up about his beliefs around reincarnation, explaining that he hopes to hear about himself when he comes back in his future form.
"I believe that we come back in some way in our families," he told the Daily Star. "I don't want to come back too soon, because I don't want my daughter to be my mum.
"But I'd like to come back a few generations from now, in my own family... in the clan."
"I am obsessed with myself," he continued. "I want to be able to look up and ask my kids, 'What was I like? What was your grandad like?' I want to hear about me."
Asked about his preferences for his future identity, he answered: "I don't know... binary or non-binary... girl, boy, I don't mind. Just a member of the family."
Dennis, who is partnered with Nancy Xu on Strictly, is due to begin his time on the show on Saturday night with a Tango to the Human League classic 'Don't You Want Me'.
