Strictly Come Dancing to be moved to 2021?

Strictly Come Dancing could reportedly be delayed until early next to year because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Strictly Come Dancing could reportedly be rescheduled for early 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The BBC have been considering some radical measures in order to get the show on air as usual in September, such as putting the celebrity contestants into isolation with their professional partners and staging the competition without a studio audience.

Social distancing measures are likely to remain in place to some extent for months to come, however, which the Daily Mail claims is making planning the series "a logistical nightmare".

The newspaper also says that the prospect of being quarantined for up to 13 weeks is deterring some of the celebrities from taking part.

"There have been many, many contingency meetings about what is going to happen," said a source.

"The hope is that the scheduling will remain the same but people have been warned that postponing until early next year is a distinct possibility.

"The main priority for the BBC is that everyone is kept safe. It is a massive show but what's more important right now is protecting lives."

The latest celebrity rumoured to be taking part is Radio 1 DJ Maya Jama, who is said to have been offered "a six-figure sum" to appear.
