Wynne Evans criticises the media following his exit from Strictly Come Dancing, accusing them of propagating "lies".

Wynne Evans has criticised the media for propagating "lies" following his exit from Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend.

The opera singer's journey came to an end after the judges unanimously picked his opponent in the dance-off, Gladiators star Montell Douglas, to remain in the competition.

Earlier in the series Evans found himself subject of headlines after a clip went viral which showed his pro partner, Katya Jones, moving his hands off her waist as they stood in the Clauditorium.

Jones came out in defence of her partner, saying that the incident was a running joke between the pair which backfired, but nonetheless it appeared to tarnish the remainder of Evans's time in the competition.

Speaking on BBC Radio Wales after his elimination, Evans said: "Week nine, what an experience. The Strictly family are perfect in every single way.

"The press are a different kettle of fish. I am still astounded that people are allowed to write, for want of a better word, lies that they want without any foundation. I am disappointed that I have seen that side of life.

"It is a goldfish bowl, but I learnt a lot from Katya because she has been doing it for a number of years. The people that know me, know me. I think I am a much stronger person coming out of it."

Strictly continues this Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One with the seven remaining couples tackling the show's first ever "Samba-thon".
