Asif Munaf reveals that he is fired on The Apprentice, hours before the show was due to air, amid a row over alleged anti-Semitism.

Asif Munaf revealed on Thursday morning that he would be fired during that evening's episode of The Apprentice amid a row over alleged anti-Semitism.

The 34-year-old - a doctor from Sheffield - was given the finger by Lord Sugar after his team failed to impress in a task requiring them to design their own virtual escape room.

However, Munaf announced the firing himself in advance of transmission, telling his followers that he would not be appearing in the interview show The Apprentice: You're Fired.

Munaf was dropped from the programme following a series of remarks earlier in the year on X - made after filming on the series had wrapped - in which he was highly critical of Israel's assault on Gaza.

"My time on the show will come to end tonight," he wrote. "But this is just the beginning. We thank Him for the opportunity to bring the plight of our brothers and sisters in Gaza to the mainstream."

A BBC spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the individual concerned will not feature as a guest on any additional upcoming BBC content relating to The Apprentice."

After the initial tweets came to light, Munaf was given "specialised training to understand why his posts may cause offence" and he issued a public apology on X on January 31.

However, using the same platform on Thursday, he wrote: "Free speech... Unless you criticise a certain neo-colonial white supremacist death cult."

In another, he wrote: "In appeasing the Zionist lobby, the broadcaster has inadvertently scored the greatest own goal. Nobody respects cowards. In an industry obsessed with eyeballs, watch viewing figures now plummet. Long-term loss for short-term appeasement."

The Apprentice continues Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
