A peak of 18.4 million viewers tune in to ITV to watch England progress to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

A peak of 18.4 million viewers tuned in to ITV on Sunday afternoon to watch England progress to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, early figures show.

The Three Lions looked set for an embarrassing exit at the hands of Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen, only for Jude Bellingham to spare their blushes in the final moments of regular time, before skipper Harry Kane secured the victory in extra time.

ITV's coverage of the match averaged 11.3 million between 3.30pm and 7.45pm, with the game itself averaging 15.6 million from kickoff to the final whistle.

According to figures supplied by the broadcaster, the peak of 18.4 million was achieved by those watching the linear ITV1 broadcast and those streaming live via ITVX.

Ratings figures only account for viewing in household settings, meaning that the many millions more who watched in pubs, clubs and bars do not feature in the final tally.
