The final episode of The Masked Dancer peaks with over 5 million viewers for ITV.

The final episode of The Masked Dancer peaked with over 5 million viewers on Saturday night, according to early ratings figures.

The spinoff of The Masked Singer was stripped by ITV across seven nights during half-term week in the schedule space normally occupied by the live finals of Britain's Got Talent, which was cancelled this year due to coronavirus.

Overall, the show put in a decent if unspectacular performance across the week - on average drawing less than half the audience typically achieved by BGT.

Saturday night's finale brought in an average of 3.83m (28.4%) between 7.30pm and 9pm, with a peak of 5.05m (33.4%) coming at 8.53pm as former gymnast Louis Smith was unmasked as the winner.

Across its seven episodes the show averaged 2.99m, with a low of 2.17m (15.1%) on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, parent show The Masked Singer, which peaked with over 10m viewers in February, is expected to return for a new series at the end of the year.
