Alan Cumming is to preside over this year's BAFTA TV Awards in May.

The Traitors US host Alan Cumming has been named as the host of this year's BAFTA TV Awards.

The multi-award winning actor on stage of screen succeeds comedy duo Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, who had hosted the previous two ceremonies.

The awards - honouring the best TV of 2024 - will be held on Sunday, May 11 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with a delayed broadcast airing on BBC One that evening.

Emma Baehr, BAFTA's executive director of awards, said: "We're delighted that Alan Cumming will be hosting this year's BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises. He will definitely bring a playful sense of mischief and fun to the ceremony, so audiences should expect the unexpected at Britain's biggest celebration of TV on Sunday 11 May. The sheer quality, innovation, and breadth of talent in British television in front of and behind the camera is second to none."

The nominations for this year's awards are due to be revealed on Thursday at midday.
