Prime Video announces that an all-access documentary series focused on Premiership Rugby will be released on October 12.

Prime Video has announced that a behind-the-scenes documentary show focused on Premiership Rugby will be released on October 12.

The streaming platform has gained a reputation for securing exclusive access to the world's top sides and leagues, including Manchester City, Arsenal, the New Zealand All Blacks, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Brazil national football team.

Now the streamer will follow the 2022-23 season in English club rugby, in the style of Netflix's F1 show Drive To Survive, in a new documentary called Mud, Sweat and Tears: Premiership Rugby.

"Rugby is a unique and hugely entertaining sport. And the Gallagher Premiership is one of closest and hard-fought competitions in the game - full of history, intense rivalries and characters," said Simon Massie-Taylor, the league's CEO.

"Right to the very end, there was jeopardy and drama throughout last season and this documentary goes right to the very heart of English rugby. Off the pitch we are looking forward to telling the backstories to some of sport's greatest characters as we go into their homes and show the human stories of rugby, from players to kitmen, club owners and the league's rising stars."

Contributors to the two-part series include Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje, Ben Earl, Lewis Ludlam, Fin Smith, George Ford, Chris Ashton and Gus Warr.
