Channel 4 has commissioned a new six-part comedy series written by Meet The Richardsons' Lucy Beaumont.
Hullraisers centres around three women living in Hull in what is described by Channel 4 as "a laugh-out-loud, chaotic comedy that embodies the ups and downs of life, friendship, and family".
Bridgerton's Leah Brotherhead will play the lead Toni, an aspiring actress who yearns to escape Hull; Line of Duty star Taj Atwal has been cast as Toni's best friend Rana, a promiscuous policewoman; and The Crown's Sinead Matthews will play Paula, Toni's older sister who is happy and contented with her lot in Hull.
"It's an absolute privilege and honour to be working with Channel 4, who are absolutely killing it with comedy that raises the bar and pushes boundaries," said Beaumont, who will write the series alongside Anne-Marie O'Connor.
"I'm so excited about showing the world these true Hull characters and the city that has moulded them - a city that has kept its talent and attributes hidden for too long!"
Hullraisers has been adapted from the popular Israeli format Little Mom.
