Channel 4 reportedly commissions a new gameshow called Moneybags, where a £1m top prize is on offer.

Channel 4 has reportedly commissioned a new gameshow where the top prize on offer will be £1 million.

Called Moneybags, the show will see contestants grab bags containing different amounts of money from a moving conveyor belt.

According to The Sun, the first series will be filmed in Manchester in the near future and the show is likely to air before the end of the year.

"A seven-figure jackpot is still the holy grail for gameshows, so this is a bold move by Channel 4," a source told the newspaper. "After all there's still only one show on TV which has that prize and it's ITV's Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?

"But when those bags start moving along the conveyer belt that's exactly how much money is contained inside. The contestants just have to be very smart and more than a little lucky."

Channel 4 has previously aired a gameshow with a £1m jackpot, Million Pound Drop, which was axed in 2019.
