Channel 4 has commissioned a three-part documentary series looking at the sexual assault allegations levelled at the controversial musician Marilyn Manson.
For decades Manson - real name Brian Warner - has sparked outrage with his shocking lyrics, performances and behaviour, making him a recognisable figure around the world.
In 2021 multiple women accused Warner of sexual assault, leading to him being dropped by his record label and a string of civil lawsuits being filed.
The documentary, called Marilyn Manson: Behind The Mask, will investigate the ongoing story via interviews with several of the accusers, lifelong fans, industry insiders, lawyers, a former bandmate and his childhood best friend.
For his part, Warner has always denied the allegations and his lawyers have insisted that any claims made against him were either consensual or never took place.
"In first hand testimony, we hear intimate accounts from his accusers, as well as those who robustly refute their allegations," said Suzanne Lavery of producers Lightbox.
"The series asks timely questions about how the music industry draws the line between rock n roll excess and transgressive behaviour and examines whether Manson's constructed persona reflects the reality of the human being behind the performer, and what the future holds for the freedom of expression and the right to shock."
The show - due to air in 2024 - follows C4's recent Dispatches special detailing allegations against the comedian Russell Brand.
