Denise van Outen is to return for the first episode of The Big Breakfast revival on Channel 4 next Saturday, it is confirmed.

Denise van Outen will return to The Big Breakfast after more than 20 years next weekend when the show makes its comeback on Channel 4.

AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan will host four Saturday editions of the entertainment show this summer - starting on Saturday - following the success of a one-off revival last autumn.

Van Outen was part of a popular presenting partnership with Johnny Vaughan on the show between 1997 and 2001, and has agreed to return to the iconic house at Bow Locks to help usher in the new era.

"I spent some of the happiest times of my career on The Big Breakfast and I'm so excited to be popping in to see the brilliant AJ and Mo for the first show of the new series," she told The Sun.

"I can't think of a better way to kickstart my Saturday."

A source added to the newspaper: "There is still so much life left in the Big Breakfast formula, as AJ and Mo proved in 2021. Everyone at Channel 4 is really excited about what they can bring to the format.

"Having show legend Denise there to christen the new chapter is the icing on the cake - or should I say, the bacon on the bap."

The Big Breakfast returns to Channel 4 on Saturday at 10am.
