Heartstopper's Kit Connor comes out as bisexual after being constantly asked about his sexuality online.

Heartstopper star Kit Connor has come out as bisexual on social media, saying that he felt 'forced' into doing so.

The 18-year-old shot to fame earlier this year for his role as bisexual schoolboy Nick in the acclaimed Netflix drama, but has steadfastly refused to label his own sexuality when quizzed in public.

Nevertheless, some fans of the show have continued to speculate about his sexuality online, with some even suggesting that he is straight and deliberately "queerbaiting" the LGBT community.

Taking to Twitter late on Monday, Connor told followers: "back for a minute. i'm bi. congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. i think some of you missed the point of the show. bye"

Co-star Joe Locke, who plays Nick's love interest Charlie, replied: "You owe nothing to anyone. I'm so proud of you my friend."

Show creator Alice Oseman wrote: "I truly don't understand how people can watch 'Heartstopper' and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotype. I hope all those people are embarrassed as FUCK. Kit you are amazing."

The second season of Heartstopper is currently being filmed for a planned release on Netflix in 2023.
